Application Process

           

Before February 20	Families	Contact Project Acorn to have applications mailed to their home or download applications from the website www.projectacorn.org
By February 20	Families	Send applications to Project Acorn and attach: parent/guardian tax return from the prior year all parent/guardian W2’s from the current year a recommendation letter from someone who knows the family such as a pastor, employer, doctor, etc.
March	Project Acorn	Acknowledges the receipt of completed applications to the families Reviews the applications and makes preliminary determinations of families qualifying for the program
April	Project Acorn	Meets with prospective families to insure that they qualify for the program Notifies families of the results of their application
April	Selected families	Meets with the director of the selected preschool to complete all school-specific entrance requirements
September	Selected students	Begins school year

 

There is a shorter process for returning 4 year-olds.  Project Acorn will advise those families regarding the required steps.

 

NOTE:  Applications submitted after February 20 will be considered for our wait list.  We typically place some of our wait list children.
