Committees
Standing Committees
Nominating and Governance
Responsible for making recommendations to the Board of Directors regarding officers and new board members. The committee is also responsible for recommending updates to the organization's by-laws. The committee members are limited to current or former trustees. Activities span the calendar year.
Child Committee
Reviews the applications for assistance, selects children for funding and matches them to preschool seats. This committee is typically busy from January thru early April. Volunteers are welcome on this committee.
School Committee
Maintains communications with the partner preschools including visiting schools on a three year cycle and compiling information regarding the number of seats that are available and are utilized, as well as tuition prices. The School Committee also plans expansion to new areas and secures partner preschools in those areas. Volunteers are welcome. The committee’s activities run from October to May.
Fundraising Committee
Secures new donors and maintains relationship with current donors by managing the annual campaign and overseeing the preparation of grant proposals for foundations. The committee’s activities are year-round and volunteers are welcome.
Public Relations Committee
This committee has a broad charter and is active year round. To better manage the activities, four subcommittees have formed. Volunteers are welcome on all subcommittees.
Public Relations Subcommittee
Responsible for raising public awareness of Project Acorn.Communications Subcommittee
Prepares press releases, maintains the website, and produces communications pieces including the Annual Update.Family Relations Subcommittee
Tracks alumni outcomes and obtains family input to the organization.Outreach Subcommittee
Responsible for maintaining communications with social service agencies, public schools and other entities that can help to inform prospective applicants about the organization.
Event Committees
Golf and Tennis Committee
Plans and runs the Lasser Invitational Golf and Tennis Outing held in June each year. Volunteers are welcome.
Child’s Play Committee
Plans and runs the annual gala held in October each year. Volunteers are welcome.
