Event Raises Funding for Ten Preschoolers
Stephen Emr, Regional President of Team Capital Bank and a past president of Project Acorn said: “Project Acorn is a unique non-profit that helps families who understand and appreciate the importance of early education but don’t have the financial resources to provide their child with that benefit. What I always loved about supporting Project Acorn is the fact that each contribution has a direct and positive impact on someone’s life; in fact it impacts a whole family when one of their children can enjoy the preschool experience. Real positive returns for every dollar invested in a kid!”
Child’s Play, our 6th annual “blue-jeans casual” cocktail party, netted funds to send 10 local children to school next year. Held at the at the Haggerty Education Center of the Frelinghuysen Arboretum on October 23rd, the event honored the PNC Foundation and local community leaders Stephen Emr and Susie Schub. It also recognized the longtime contribution to early childhood education made by the Morristown preschool, Children on the Green. The event featured a silent auction of traditional items and unique experiences. The partner preschools provided one-of-a-kind scarecrows for decoration and in return guests created a craft project which will be donated to each of the preschools.
The PNC Foundation, a longtime supporter of Project Acorn, seeks to enhance educational opportunities for children, particularly underserved pre-K children. “Thanks to the focus and commitment of Project Acorn, families and their children in Morris county and its surrounding communities are better prepared to succeed in school and compete in the world that awaits them,” said Linda Bowden, PNC regional president, northern New Jersey.
